In what can only be described as a thriller, the scrappy, never-say-die Cubs won the PALL Majors Championship over the extraordinarily talented and gutsy Dodgers on Monday, 6-5 in a walk-off victory.
Down 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth, the Cubs' Emil homered to tie it up. A short time later, with Everett at third, Caleb laced a hit to center field that drove in the winning run.
The pitching sparkled for both teams with Emil and Isaac T dealing for the Cubs and Cris and Luis throwing hard for the Dodgers.
It was an amazing run for both teams, but extraordinary for the Cubs who started their regular season 0-7 and lost in their playoff opener, but rattled off five straight wins in seven days to claim the PALL crown.
Congratulations to Cubs Manager Todd Pam, Coaches Carlos Chacon, Dean Guerrero, all the parents and especially the players: Jacob, Damian, Issac E., Isaac T., Emil, Nathan, Hrach, Kibru, Everett, Noah, Caleb and Liam.
The loss does nothing to diminish the heart and determination of the Dodgers, who gritted out every inning when at bat and in the field, to finish first during the regular season.
Their extraordinary season is a testament to the great coaching of Manny Robles, who for years has been committed to developing young baseball players.
Thanks to him and coaches Eddie Magallanes, Jim Sparks, the Dodger parents and the great Dodger players: Luis, Carlos, Matthew, Cris, Sam, William, CJ, Drew, Michael, Ethan and MJ.
The Dodgers will go on to represent PALL in the City Championship and the Cubs will compete in the Tournament of Champions.
Details on those games will be forthcoming.
What a game!
