A remarkable run by Pasadena American Little League's 8-10 year old team came to an end on Tuesday night. It started with practices in early June and ended with a 6-5 loss to El Segundo Little League in the eleventh game of their All Star season in late July. PALL appreciates the efforts of the Coaching staff, parents and players who took them this far into the Southern California State tournament. PALL made it past Monday's first day of eliminations down to the final eight teams in Southern California. It is quite an accomplishment. Way to go 9 & 10 year olds!
July 24 [Game 3 Recap]: Temperature well over 100 degrees at first pitch. A close 2-2 tie game against El Segundo Little League changed dramatically in the 4th inning. As Visitor for the third consecutive game, PALL opened the 4th inning by scoring 3 runs to take a 5-2 lead. But the PALL defense could not hold them and gave up 4 runs which would eventually be the end of the scoring for the game. Luke pitched deep into the 5th inning giving up few earned runs overall and Evan closed out the inning. Final score 6-5 and eliminated from tournament play.
July 23 [Game 2 Recap]: PALL wins 9-6 over Upland Foothill Little League. CT controlled the mound with late support coming in from Wyatt for the victory. The PALL offense came alive for a four run cushion to start the first inning only to have UFLL respond with three of their own. Great "D" with Andy, Wyatt and Dylan feeding the ball to Luke all game. And key snags of deep balls by Evan and Toby kept the game under control. In the top of the 6th, a critical bases clearing triple by Luke provided the 3 runs PALL would need as UFLL would rally in the sixth and end up leaving the bases loaded to end the game.
July 22 [Game 1 Recap]: The PALL 8-10 year olds lost by a score of 6-1 to Golden Hills Little League in their first game of the double elimination tournament on Sunday evening. They will play again on Monday against Upland Foothill Little League in an elimination game. PALL took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd and had their best opportunity of the day for more but ended up leaving the bases loaded to end the inning. Golden Hills responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd and put the game out of reach with a 4-run fourth inning. The Dylan H-Tyler battery was effective yielding few earned runs with Wyatt providing some ESPN worthy plays. Luke was solid in relief but PALL could not generate runs to stage a comeback. Ultimately, GHLL found ways to get runners across the plate and came away with the win.
